A Child’s Faith
“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.”
—Mark 10:14
Young children can ask the most amazing questions about God and heaven! And when they do, we shouldn’t ignore them or act like their questions aren’t important—because they are.

When children ask you about God, do your best to answer simply and honestly in terms they can understand. Of course they don’t need deep and complicated answers, but just because they can’t understand everything about God doesn’t mean they can’t understand something about Him. I don’t understand electricity, but that doesn’t mean I can’t turn on a light switch.

Ask God to give you patience also; children have a way of asking questions until we adults run out of answers! Be thankful for their interest in spiritual things, and do all you can to let them know that God is important to you. They can begin to sense Jesus’ love for them through your love and your words.

Jesus told His disciples to let the children come to Him, and He continues to open His arms to them twenty-one centuries later. So should we.
Wisdom for Today

Father, You are patient and loving toward us, Your children. Help us to display that same gentleness toward the children You’ve placed in our lives. May they know Your love through the way we love them.
