“And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”

(1 John 5:15 NASB)

If you were absolutely certain that God was listening to you each time you prayed, would it change what you asked Him for? God hears us when we ask according to His will, which is His Word. Now this verse says that when He hears us we get the requests we have desired of Him. This is a powerful statement and is absolutely true.

The Message Bible says: “And if we’re confident that he’s listening, we know that what we’ve asked for is as good as ours.”

God always says yes to His Word. But often we fail on our end. We ask for things from God and never bothered to check in His Word. We sometimes ask for things flippantly and don’t really expect Him to answer us.

We then certainly aren’t “desiring” the petition we have asked for. One way or another, we can take confidence in the fact that if we ask anything according to His Word, He hears us and always answers by granting the request we desired of Him. So let’s be asking.

I’m in fellowship with Jesus today. I don’t walk in darkness but I walk with Him.
