Serving God
“Take careful heed ... to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
—Joshua 22:5
What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “serving God”?

Maybe you think of missionaries or pastors. Maybe you think of qualifications like seminary training, or a holy life, or a solid knowledge of God’s Word. Or maybe you think of people who are younger and healthier than you, or older and more experienced than you, as those God can use most effectively.

But listen: God wants to use you right where you are. Every day you probably come in contact with people who will never enter a church, or talk with a pastor, or open a Bible—and God wants to use you to point them to Christ. You may be the “bridge” God would use to bring them to Himself.

Be alert for opportunities to share the Good News of Christ’s love with others—even today. Never underestimate what God can do through even your smallest effort to reach out to others in the name of Jesus.
Wisdom for Today

Father, You have a purpose for every person alive today, whether they are young or old. Paul said that to remain in the body meant fruitful labor (see Philippians 1:22). Let us continue being about Your business as long as there is breath in our bodies.
