"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds."—James 1:2 (NIV)

None of us enjoys facing trouble, but James doesn't say to be joyful because of the trial. He says to count it all joy while you're in the middle of it. That's a choice of faith.

I remember hearing my dad say every time a challenge came, "It's just another opportunity to prove God's Word works." He didn't just preach that truth—he lived it. Sometimes he'd start laughing and say, "Ha-ha, Mr. Devil! You thought you had us this time." Before long, that laugh wasn't forced anymore. It came from confidence that God was faithful.

Every trial is an opportunity to trust God more deeply. The enemy may bring the problem, but God will use it to develop your endurance, patience, and spiritual maturity. As we continue believing His Word, He gives us wisdom for every situation as well as strength to keep moving forward.

When you don't know what to do, first ask God, because He promises to give wisdom generously. Then, stand on His Word without wavering. The same God who parted the Red Sea, shut the mouths of lions, walked with the three Hebrew children in the fire, and opened the prison doors for Paul and Silas is still working today!

Whatever you're facing today, make the decision to stand on God's Word. Refuse to let your circumstances dictate your outlook. Count it all joy—not because the trial is pleasant, but because God is faithful. The trial is temporary, His promises are eternal, and if you'll keep believing, you'll discover that what the enemy meant for defeat will become another testimony of God's faithfulness.
