Needed: Godly Leadership
“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”
—Proverbs 14:34
“I don’t intend to vote this year,” his letter to me stated. “I don’t have much use for politicians, and anyway, my vote won’t make any difference.”

I can understand his attitude; it’s easy to become cynical about government or feel that our vote is insignificant. But what would happen (I reminded him) if everyone had his attitude? What kind of leadership would we likely get then? We need leaders who are men and women of integrity and wisdom, and we should thank God that we live in a country where we have the privilege of choosing our leaders. We must never take that responsibility lightly.

The Bible tells us to pray for “all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:2). Pray as you vote, and pray regularly for all those who are in positions of political leadership. And if God leads you to become involved in politics in some way, take your responsibilities seriously and seek His wisdom in all you do.
Wisdom for Today

It’s easy to be critical of those in authority over us, Father, but we are instructed to pray for them. Please give our leaders hearts that seek Your will and wisdom as they make decisions that affect a nation
