Devotion for Working Women
| When Persecution Comes, Let the Holy Spirit Spea |
But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry about what to say in your defense. Just say what God tells you to. Then it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
Part of our destiny as Christians is to be persecuted and falsely accused because of our faith. This will happen to us at some point in our lives. Jesus warned His disciples these things will happen and encouraged them to not worry about defending themselves. Many times we forget we are not alone doing our jobs. We have the Holy spirit within us. He is our defense attorney—the best in the world. He has our best interest as His first priority. He can take care of all the legal matters and defends us. He can tell us exactly what to do and say at the right time.
There are a few things we must do in order for the Holy spirit to act on our behalf. The first thing is to not worry. Even though our spirit is in faith, and our flesh in fear at the same time, we must believe He is our defense and shield. Then we need to allow Him to take control of the situation. Finally, we have to act. This means we say and do exactly what He tells us to say and do without adding our opinion or thoughts to it. Then we give the glory to God for every situation He delivers us from.
If you are in a situation at work where you have been wrongly accused of something, let the Holy spirit guide you on what to say. Turn your case over to Him. He will vindicate you and will bring the truth to light. Let Him do His job. Then give Him thanks for defending and delivering you.
