And Moses said to Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.”
Exodus 17:9

Clearly in these days, as God’s praying people, we have great responsibilities to fulfill. Now more than ever, we need to get squarely in the center of God’s will because that’s where we can be most effective for Him. We need to fellowship with Him until we know the areas where He has called us to exercise our authority—in our neighborhoods, our cities, our states, our nation, and even other nations. Then we must pray and stand on the Word of God until His will comes to pass in those areas on earth as it is in heaven.

If we don’t, a spiritual void will be created and the Devil will rush in and fill it. Wherever we don’t enforce the will of God on earth by prayer, the Devil will wreak havoc. That has always been the case, but it will be increasingly so in the days ahead.

Therefore, like Moses in Exodus chapter 17, we must daily ascend in our hearts to our place of spiritual authority, seated with Jesus at the right hand of God. We must take the rod of authority He has given us and extend it by faith over the battles that rage below. In our day as in Moses’ day, when the rod of prayer is dropped, the enemy will gain ground. But when prayer is lifted, the causes of righteousness will prevail.

So keep watching and praying. Stay on the mountain of the Spirit with the rod of prayer lifted high. For “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming quickly.’ Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20 – 21)
